I'M HELENE GERBER. I'M A 25 YEAR OLD DANISH DESIGN STUDENT WITH A LOVE FOR CATS, TRAVELS AND AWESOME DESIGN.



I am an educated designer from VIA Design (former TEKO), where I studied Design and Business with specialty in Visual Communication Design. Yeah, it sound fancy, I know - but basically, I'm just a girl who loves to do graphic design.

Currently, I am studying a Master in Cognitive Semiotics at Aarhus University. It's a very niche area, and most people go "ah what??" when they hear about it, which I completely understand. Put simply, we learn how human cognition enables us to communicate and be the unique species we are.

There is probably a whole lot to be said about me, especially if you ask the people surrounding me in my daily life (they will probably say something like "Oh, her? She's talking way too much about cats and she's always scrutinizing the web for cheap plane tickets").

CAND.MAG. COGNITIVE SEMIOTICS

The cognitive Semiotics Programme is concerned with the creation of meaning in perception, art and communication.


A range of modern cognitive theories forms the foundation for the programme’s research activities, which also draw on traditional semiotics. Research interests include the visual arts, textual semiotics, general cognition, general semiology and social interaction.

We are taught how to work thoroughly with the creative process of designing visual elements for different businesses - mainly lifestyle and fashion, however, we work with a wide array of businesses.


Furthermore, we learn how to combine creativity with business, and how creatives can help companies to become stronger. Our focus is mainly within branding and communications but everything we do is rooted in a knowledge of business structure, sociology and marketing theory.

We learn to combine creative thinking with a sound basis of business skills and knowledge of the innovation process. We learn how to make research that allows us to make the best possible design solution, and how to navigate in the different stages of a design process.


Practical skills include design and logistics planning, concept development, marketing and branding, online communication, product development, 2D and 3D graphics.
